Hezekiah Bamiji, media aide to Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, described the defection of Senators Francis Fadahunsi and Olubiyi Fadeyi from the PDP to the APC as a miscalculation.
Speaking on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief on Thursday, Bamiji suggested the senators were misled by rumours of Adeleke’s potential defection, failing to consult their leader or constituents.
The APC, which welcomed the senators on Wednesday, increased its Senate seats to 70, reducing the PDP’s to 28.
Amid speculation about his loyalties, sparked by a 3 June 2025 visit to President Bola Tinubu, Adeleke reaffirmed his commitment to the PDP via his X account, stating the party endorsed him for a second term in 2026. He also backed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid, citing his Osun roots.
Bamiji stressed that Adeleke’s focus on good governance for Osun negates any need to switch parties.
