A governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun state, Omooba Dotun Babayemi, has said it is time for the state to have a governor that would see governance as a serious business, rather than entertainment and amusement.

Babayemi, who officially declared his interest to contest the 2026 governorship election at the APC secretariat, Osogbo, Monday, maintained that he remains the best among the contestants in the party.

He informed the party working committee led by the state chairman of APC, Tajudeen Lawal, that he had consulted the leader of the party in the state, Alh. Adegboyega Oyetola, and some stakeholders before taking the decision.

Babayemi, who said he chose to inform the party so as to get the guidelines on how to operate within the context of the party directives, noted that all the contestants have the capacity but he remain the best.

“We are here to consult the party after speaking with the elders and leadership of our party. We met with the leader, Alh Adegboyega Oyetola, to let him know that we like to go out to consult for the governorship.

“The leadership of the party gave us some guidelines and they told us the dos and don’t and how to interact with other aspirants and the public.
