Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has sealed a permanent transfer to Galatasaray from Napoli in a record-breaking €75 million deal.
The 26-year-old, who fired 26 goals in 30 league matches during his loan spell last season, played a crucial role in helping the Turkish giants lift their 25th Super Lig title. His consistent form made him a top priority for the Istanbul club, which has now made him the most expensive signing in Turkish football history.
Galatasaray confirmed the deal on Friday after weeks of intense negotiations.
“Victor is a game-changer,” Galatasaray president Dursun Özbek said. “We knew we had to keep him if we wanted to dominate both in Turkey and in Europe.”
Osimhen’s exit from Napoli had been on the cards after he was left out of Antonio Conte’s pre-season plans. Although he returned to Italy briefly, he did not feature in the squad as the Serie A side began rebuilding under Conte.
Napoli had insisted on a structured payment schedule, which delayed the agreement, but both sides finally struck a deal late Thursday night.
The move ends Osimhen’s four-year spell in Italy, where he helped Napoli clinch the 2022-23 Serie A title and became a fan favourite for his speed, power, and finishing.
In response to the transfer, Osimhen thanked the Napoli fans and said he was ready for a new challenge.
“I’ll always be grateful to Napoli. Now I’m focused on winning with Galatasaray and giving my best on the pitch,” he said.
Napoli have already started filling the gap with the high-profile signing of Belgian midfielder Kevin De Bruyne from Manchester City.
