Senator Iyiola Omisore, former National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has confidently declared that the party is not merely participating but is determined to win the 2026 Osun State governorship election. As he officially launches his campaign for the APC governorship ticket, Omisore is prioritising extensive grassroots consultations across the state to ensure unity and consensus within the party.
Addressing supporters and party members, Omisore emphasised, “This is not about ambition alone; it is about collective reasoning and strategy. Osun needs common sense now more than ever. We cannot afford to field a candidate who merely participates, we must present a candidate who can win.” His approach signals a commitment to inclusive dialogue and a strategic path towards reclaiming the state’s leadership under APC.
The former Deputy Governor’s consultation tour received commendations from prominent party figures. Hon. Folorunso Oladoyin Bamisayemi, a former Commissioner for Education, lauded Omisore’s pivotal role in stabilising the APC nationally. “Senator Omisore’s base in Ife is one of the four largest voting blocs in Osun. His consistent financial and strategic support for the party, including backing reinstated local government officials, underscores his dedication,” Bamisayemi stated.
Similarly, Hon. Olanrewaju Balogun, Chairman of Ilesa East Local Government Area, described Omisore’s campaign as a “unity agenda” vital for the state’s progress. He added, “With these successful engagements, Senator Omisore is set to continue consultations across the state in what many stakeholders are calling the beginning of a rescue mission for Osun State.”
The consultation tour also included a strategic visit to Chief Akinwande Ayinde Akinola, Sawe of Ilesa, focusing on reinforcing shared commitment towards Osun’s socio-economic development.
