The National Chairman of the Old Progressive People’s Party (formerly known as the All Progressives Grand Alliance), Chief John Nwodo, has publicly endorsed Peter Obi as the “surest bet” for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Nigeria’s 2027 presidential election.
Speaking at a political gathering on Monday, Nwodo described Obi, former governor of Anambra State and 2023 presidential candidate, as a unifying figure capable of driving meaningful reforms and bridging political divides.
“Peter Obi remains the surest bet for the ADC in 2027. His track record, integrity, and commitment to national development make him the candidate to watch,” Nwodo said.
The endorsement signals continued political alignment and support from influential leaders for Obi, who has remained a prominent voice in Nigeria’s political landscape even after the 2023 elections.
Political analysts suggest that endorsements like Nwodo’s could strengthen Obi’s position within the ADC and enhance his visibility ahead of the 2027 polls, amid an increasingly competitive and fragmented political environment.
Obi has yet to officially declare his intentions for the 2027 elections, but the growing backing from party leaders may foreshadow a strategic push to consolidate his influence across key regions in Nigeria.
