The Dangote Group has rejected claims of a disagreement between its founder, Aliko Dangote, and Tony Elumelu, describing the reports as unfounded.
In a statement, the conglomerate said there is no rift between the two prominent business figures, pushing back against speculation circulating online.
The denial follows a post on X by a user identified as Oghneminehhhhh, who alleged that Dangote had admitted to running out of funds in 2021 while his refinery project was still under construction.
According to the claim, the billionaire industrialist said the project had stalled at about half completion due to financial constraints. However, the company did not confirm the authenticity of the statement and instead focused on dismissing suggestions of any fallout between Dangote and Elumelu.
The clarification comes amid heightened public attention on major industrial projects and the relationships between Nigeria’s top business leaders, particularly around the financing and progress of large-scale ventures such as the Dangote refinery.
The Dangote Group reiterated that its founder maintains cordial and professional relationships within the business community, signalling that reports of tension between the two figures are inaccurate.
