The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) recorded a ₦5.76 trillion profit after tax in 2025, as the state-owned energy company reported a sharp rise in revenue during the financial year.
According to NNPCL’s December 2025 Monthly Report Summary, the company generated ₦60.517 trillion in total revenue, up from ₦45.1 trillion recorded in 2024. Its 2025 profit represented an increase of about 6.7 per cent from the ₦5.4 trillion reported the previous year.
The figures highlight continued growth in the company’s earnings despite operational challenges affecting crude oil production and pipeline infrastructure. Average crude oil and condensate production stood at about 1.54 million barrels per day during the year, while gas production also remained a significant contributor to the company’s operations.
NNPCL also remitted ₦14.706 trillion to the Federation in 2025 through taxes, royalties and dividends, according to the reported financial figures. The amount was lower than the ₦15.982 trillion remitted in 2024.
The latest performance comes after NNPCL reported a ₦5.4 trillion profit after tax on ₦45.1 trillion revenue in 2024, marking a substantial improvement from its 2023 profit of ₦3.297 trillion.
The company’s 2025 results come amid wider scrutiny of its financial management, with lawmakers continuing to examine substantial discrepancies contained in earlier audited financial statements covering 2017 to 2023. NNPCL management has said it would undertake further reviews and reconciliation of the figures under investigation.
