The Nigeria Police Service Commission (PSC) has announced the promotion of 27 senior police officers in a significant reshuffle aimed at bolstering the leadership within the Nigeria Police Force. This includes the elevation of 11 Commissioners of Police to Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIG) and the promotion of 16 Deputy Commissioners of Police to the rank of Commissioners of Police.
The newly promoted officers reported to the Commission’s Headquarters on Monday, where they participated in comprehensive written and oral assessments. PSC Chairman Hashimu Argungu emphasized the importance of continuous professional development, encouraging officers to embrace global best practices and enhance their technological skills.
Among those promoted to Assistant Inspectors General of Police are Umar Shehu Nadada from Nasarawa State, Mustapha Mohammed Bala from Rivers State, and Abayomi Peter Oladipo from Ondo State, among others. These promotions reflect the officers’ exceptional service and commitment to upholding law and order across the nation.
The list of Deputy Commissioners promoted to Commissioners includes Kayode Ojapinwa of the SCID, FCT, and Emmanuel Ighodalo of ZCID, Zone 8, Lokoja, along with several others who have demonstrated leadership and operational excellence in their respective roles.
DIG Taiwo Lakanu, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Police Promotions, led the oral interviews and highlighted the importance of integrity and dedication in their new roles. He reassured the officers that the Commission remains committed to ensuring timely and merit-based promotions, vital for maintaining morale and efficiency within the force.
These promotions are part of the PSC’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force and ensure it remains equipped to tackle the nation’s security challenges effectively.
