Billionaire businessman Zenco has spearheaded a high-profile donation of luxury buses worth millions of naira to the City Boy Movement, a pro–President Bola Tinubu political support group, in a move aimed at strengthening grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general election.
The presentation, held in Abuja on Tuesday, drew prominent political figures, party loyalists and youth coordinators, underscoring growing efforts to consolidate support for President Tinubu’s anticipated re-election bid.
Speaking at the event, Zenco said the donation was part of a broader commitment by private-sector leaders to support what he described as Tinubu’s reform agenda, citing ongoing economic and infrastructural policies as reasons for their backing.
“These buses are meant to enhance outreach and engagement across communities nationwide as we continue to mobilise support for President Tinubu’s second term,” he said.
Organisers of the City Boy Movement said the vehicles would be deployed across key states to aid campaign logistics, voter education and party activities, adding that the contribution would significantly boost their operational capacity.
Political analysts say the donation reflects an early intensification of campaign-related activities, nearly two years before Nigerians head to the polls, as influential backers begin to position themselves ahead of the 2027 race.
President Tinubu has not formally declared his intention to seek a second term, but allies and support groups across the country have stepped up public endorsements, signalling mounting momentum within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The latest donation adds to a series of political gestures by business elites, highlighting the increasingly visible role of private wealth in Nigeria’s evolving electoral landscape.
