The lawmaker representing Borno South Senatorial District,Senator Ali Ndume has raised alarm over the resurgence of Boko Haram, claiming the terrorist group now controls three towns in Borno State: Gudumbali, Marte, and Abadam. He asserted that the insurgents have effectively displaced civil authority and even the Nigerian Army in these areas.
“There is no civil authority there, and the only authority there is Boko Haram,” Ndume stated during a televised interview, calling for President Bola Tinubu to declare a state of emergency on security and the economy. He also urged improved welfare for military personnel.

Ndume, listed the areas under the control of the terrorist group to include Gudumbali, Marte and Abadam.
Speaking during a programme monitored on a national television, the All Progressives Congress lawmaker said: “There is no civil authority there and the only authority there is Boko Haram. They are Gudumbali, Marte and Abadam.”
Meanwhile, Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum held urgent, closed-door meetings with the Chief of Army Staff, Chief of Naval Staff, and Chief of Air Staff in Abuja. Accompanied by Borno senators and House of Representatives members, Zulum sought a renewed and coordinated military response to the escalating Boko Haram threat.
Sources revealed that the meetings focused on strengthening military operations, enhancing intelligence sharing, and addressing the recent surge in attacks. Zulum had earlier expressed deep concern over the increased ferocity of the insurgents and called for decisive action to prevent further deterioration of the security situation in the region.
