President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to confer national honours on 210 former members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) during a formal awards ceremony scheduled for Tuesday, 11:00 a.m., at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

This development was announced in a statement released on Saturday by the NYSC’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Mr Emeka Mgbemena.

According to Mr Mgbemena, the prestigious President’s NYSC Honours Award will recognise 200 ex-corps members for their outstanding performance across the scheme’s four key programme areas: the orientation course, primary assignment, community development service, and the final winding-up/passing-out exercise. The awards span service years from 2020 to 2023.

In addition, ten former corps members who sustained varying degrees of permanent disability in the line of duty will be honoured under the NYSC Hope Alive Initiative. This initiative acknowledges the courage and sacrifices made by those who encountered life-altering challenges while serving the nation.

The Minister of Youth Development, Mr Ayodele Olawande, the Director-General of the NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Akinyemi Nafiu, and senior members of the NYSC management team are expected to be in attendance to receive the award recipients and other distinguished guests.

The ceremony underscores the Federal Government’s continued commitment to recognising excellence, patriotism, and resilience among Nigerian youth.
