Nasarawa APC Lawmakers Endorse Consensus for Party Congresses.

Lawmakers from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly have thrown their weight behind the party’s strategic decision to adopt consensus arrangements for selecting executive members at all levels ahead of the upcoming congresses.

This unanimous declaration came at the end of their 9th Caucus meeting held on Tuesday at the State Assembly complex in Lafia, signaling a strong commitment to unity and internal harmony within the ruling party.

The move is seen as a proactive step to avert potential crises that often plague political gatherings in Nigeria’s dynamic party politics, especially in states like Nasarawa where factional tensions can undermine electoral fortunes. By aligning with the consensus model, the lawmakers are not only endorsing a smoother transition for party leadership but also reinforcing the APC’s dominance in the state ahead of future elections.

Hon. Suleiman Yakubu Azara, the Majority Leader of the House, who addressed journalists shortly after the closed-door session, emphasized that the decision was born out of a deliberate effort to foster peace among party faithful.

At a function I. Kokona local government area, Honourable he party chairman,Dr Aliyu Bello reiterated that for the purpose of smooth transition , APC will be embarking on consensus election from the ward level to the state in order to avoid litigation and unwarranted acrymonies within the party.
