The Chairman of the Lagos State Parks and Garages Management Committee, Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, has disclosed that he spent over ₦756 million of his personal funds to support President Bola Tinubu’s 2023 presidential campaign.
Speaking at a public event in Lagos, MC Oluomo said the expenditure covered campaign logistics, mobilisation, rallies, and grassroots outreach across the state. He explained that his contributions were motivated by loyalty and personal conviction rather than political ambition.
“I spent ₦756 million to ensure Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s victory in 2023. I did it out of love and commitment to a man who has transformed lives, including mine,” he said.
The transport union leader added that many of his associates and members of the Lagos transport community also contributed financially and materially to the campaign. He described Tinubu’s victory as “a collective effort of millions who believed in his vision for Nigeria.”
MC Oluomo’s revelation has sparked mixed reactions across social and political circles. While supporters have praised his loyalty and generosity, critics have questioned the source of the funds, citing concerns about accountability and transparency in public sector-linked associations.
Political analysts say the disclosure underscores the massive financial muscle deployed during the 2023 general elections and reignites debates about campaign financing and political patronage in Nigeria.
The Lagos State government has not commented on MC Oluomo’s remarks, but opposition parties have urged anti-graft agencies to investigate the origin of the funds, arguing that individuals with close ties to government institutions must be held to the same standard of transparency.
