The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) made significant arrests in various locations over the past few days.
In Kwara State, two individuals, Khadijat Abdulraheem and Ayomide Morakinyo, were apprehended for allegedly producing and distributing drug-laced cupcakes to students. The suspects, a recent graduate and a university student, were caught by NDLEA operatives in Ilorin on December 29, 2024. Upon searching their residence, 42 drug-infused cakes were discovered.
Additionally, an ex-convict, Sodade Sunday Eniola, who had previously been arrested for drug trafficking and sentenced to prison, was apprehended for passport racketeering at the Lagos airport. Alongside Eniola, three other individuals were arrested for their involvement in passport racketeering, with multiple passports intercepted by NDLEA officers destined for various countries.
Moreover, a significant seizure of 316,800 bottles of codeine-based syrup was made at the Port Harcourt Ports Complex in Rivers State, following credible intelligence. In Kano, a raid in the Dan Dishe area led to the recovery of 149,090 tramadol and exol-5 pills from a local dealer, Ismail Muhammad.
These recent operations highlight the NDLEA’s commitment to combatting drug-related crimes and ensuring the safety and well-being of communities across Nigeria.
