Kogi Security Fund, NDLEA partner to fght drug abuse by AIShA auDu

KOGI State Security Trust Fund has expressed its read- iness to collaborate with the National Drug Law Enforce- ment Agency (NDLEA) to address the menace of drug abuse across the State.

THE Federal Government has formally kick-started the Special Public Works (SPW) programme,with the formal lunch and presentation of forms to Local Government Areas in the Central Senato- rial district.
Performing the ceremo- ny, the Chairman of Federal Government Special Public Works programmme, Mr.Raji Afolabi, described the ges- ture as one of President Mu- hammad Buhari’s interven- tion programmes and fscal stimulus measures adopted to help cushion the negative impact of the Coronavirus pandemic on Nigerians.
He then charged the rel- evant authorities and stake- holders to ensure the assign- ment is handled diligently and the gesture extended to benefciaries irrespective of political afliation or class.

Hon Samari described the contribution of the agency in the fght against drug abuse and crime in the society as crucial to the state and the nation at large, stressing that the endemic nature which the menace had assumed in recent times, demands a combined force to nip it in the bud.

who engage in all kinds of vices ranging from armed robbery, kidnapping, human rituals mostly depend on drugs for motivation.
While noting that it was practically impossible for the agency alone to shoulder the campaign without involving other relevant stakeholders, he promised to address the challenges highlighted by the agency for efective service delivery.
Responding, of the state
command of the NDLEA, Al- fred Adewumi expressed his organization’s readiness to fostering cooperation to en- hance the execution of their respective mandates.
He, however, listed some of the challenges hampering their activities to include: inadequate ofce accommo- dation, lack of operational vehicles, inadequate funds to equip feld ofcers as well as the absence of a rehabilitation center.
