The abductors of former Director of Defence Information, retired Major General Rabe Abubakar, and his wife have reportedly issued a list of conditions for the couple’s release, demanding the freedom of three detained fighters and the return of livestock allegedly confiscated during security operations.
The demands, conveyed through intermediaries, mark the first known communication from the kidnappers since the retired military officer and his wife were abducted.
The incident has raised fresh concerns over the growing sophistication of armed groups, who are increasingly seeking concessions beyond monetary ransom in exchange for hostages.
Authorities have yet to publicly respond to the kidnappers’ demands, while efforts to secure the safe release of the couple continue.
