In a recent NBC News interview, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian firmly rejected allegations that Iran had plotted to assassinate Republican President-elect Donald Trump. This statement comes in response to Trump’s previous claims during the 2024 election campaign, suggesting that Iran may have been involved in attempts on his life.

Pezeshkian emphasized that Iran has never considered such actions and reiterated the peaceful nature of the country’s nuclear program, cautioning Trump against provoking conflict.

The U.S. Justice Department had charged an Iranian man in connection with an alleged assassination plot linked to Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guard Corps, which was thwarted before any attack could occur.

As Trump prepares for his inauguration, Pezeshkian’s comments signal a potential opportunity for diplomatic engagement, despite the tensions that marked Trump’s first term.
