Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates — Iran’s elite Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has reportedly destroyed one of the United Arab Emirates’ most valuable military assets in a drone strike targeting a major airbase in the capital.
According to emerging reports, the strike hit Al Dhafra Air Base, one of the UAE’s largest and most strategic military installations, during what has been described as a coordinated large-scale drone assault.
The aircraft destroyed is believed to be a Saab GlobalEye AEW&C — an advanced airborne early warning and control system regarded as a critical component of the country’s air defence and surveillance capabilities. The platform is among the most sophisticated and high-value assets operated in the region.
There has been no immediate confirmation from authorities in United Arab Emirates, and the extent of damage at the base remains unclear.
The reported strike marks a significant escalation in regional tensions, raising concerns over the vulnerability of key military infrastructure and the potential for wider confrontation in the Gulf.
