An Iranian missile has impacted in Tel Aviv, Israeli authorities confirmed on Saturday, marking a significant escalation in already heightened tensions across the region.

According to initial reports from the Israeli military, air defence systems were activated shortly before the projectile struck an area within the city. Emergency services were swiftly deployed to the scene, with medics and security personnel cordoning off the affected location.

There were no immediate details regarding casualties or the extent of the damage. Officials said assessments were ongoing.

In a brief statement, the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) said it was investigating the circumstances surrounding the strike and reviewing its defensive response. Residents in several parts of the city reported hearing sirens and loud explosions moments before the impact.

Iran has not immediately issued a formal statement on the incident.

The strike comes amid escalating hostilities between Israel and Iran, whose long-running shadow conflict has intensified in recent months through proxy confrontations and direct exchanges.

International leaders have urged restraint, warning that further escalation could destabilise the wider Middle East. Diplomatic channels are reportedly being engaged in a bid to prevent a broader regional conflict.
