Galatasaray striker Mauro Icardi has voiced his excitement at the chance to play more regularly alongside Nigerian star Victor Osimhen this season, describing the prospect as “a lot of fun.”
The Argentine forward, who endured a season-ending injury last term, was restricted to only a few matches with Osimhen, but says he is eager to reignite their attacking partnership as the Yellow-Reds chase both domestic and European success.
“Unfortunately, last year there were only a few matches where we could be on the pitch at the same time as Victor. Those were some very enjoyable moments,” Icardi told Galatasaray’s official website. “We didn’t get to enjoy the entire year, but the most important thing was always to win the championship and the trophy. We want to continue this year.”
Osimhen, 26, was the Turkish Super Lig’s top scorer last season, having first joined Galatasaray on loan before making his move permanent this summer. His form drew praise from Icardi, who stressed that team success remains the ultimate objective.
“Besides Victor and I, there are many players performing very well in training who want to get playing time,” the former Inter Milan captain added. “We will win together. We will all win together. Also, Victor was the top scorer last season. We will play together again this year. It will be a lot of fun.”
