Retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas has formally exited Government House, marking the end of six months of emergency rule in Rivers State.

The emergency administration, imposed by President Bola Tinubu on 18 March 2025 in response to the state’s political crisis, lapsed at midnight on Wednesday, 17 September.

In his final official act, Ibas presided over the swearing-in of Mrs Inyingi Brown as substantive Head of Service, urging her to extend the same loyalty to Governor Siminalayi Fubara as she gave to the interim government.

In a farewell address broadcast on Thursday morning, the outgoing administrator highlighted the restoration of calm and public confidence as key achievements of his stewardship. He called on the incoming leadership to build on the peace secured during his tenure.
