The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has openly declared his political interest in Oyo State, signalling his intention to closely monitor developments within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
Wike made the remark during a meeting of the PDP National Executive Committee (NEC), where he emphasised that his focus would be firmly on Oyo State politics.
“Particularly in Oyo State, I am interested. Mr Chairman, let me declare my interest. I am interested in Oyo State PDP. That’s where I’m interested. No more,” the former Rivers State governor said.
His comments, delivered in a blunt and characteristically forthright manner, drew reactions from party stakeholders present at the meeting.
Although Wike did not elaborate on the reasons behind his declaration, political observers view the statement as a clear signal of his growing involvement in the internal dynamics of the PDP in Oyo State, ahead of future political realignments.
The FCT minister remains one of the most influential figures within the PDP, and his open interest in Oyo State is expected to shape discussions and power balances within the party in the coming months.
