Hon. Daku urges residents of Bassa State Constituency to respect their elected officials and uphold the rule of law.

The people of Bassa Local Government has been called upon to accord the needed respect and regard for traditional rulers in the area. The Deputy Minority Leader and Member representing Bassa Constituency, Hon. Daku Sunday made this known while speaking at the final burial rites of the late District Head of Ikende, HRH. Chief Stephen Guda Tegeri today in Ikende.

Hon. Daku Sunday said that, traditional rulers across board ought to be respected because they serve as god’s and custodians of the custom and traditions of the people. The Member who showered encomium to the late monarch expressed joy to the exemplary lifestyle he lived and urged the people to emulate him. He noted that the late monarch was a man of peace and an humble Father whose love for the growth and development of Bassa Local Government and his district knows no bound.

Hon. Daku who recalled the support and prayers of the late monarch to his candidature during the 2023 House of Assembly Campaigns and the accompanied massive victory he later got from the District, described respect for constituted authorities as one factor that gave him victory. “My respect for traditional rulers was one major key factor to my victory in Ikende Ward. The support and prayers of our late monarch whose final burial rites we are marking today was instrumental to my victory. The love shown to me by the people of Ikende Ward and His Royal Highness won’t be forgotten”, he said.

Consequently, Hon. Daku called for total respect for constituted authorities in the local government. He urged all son’s and daughters of the area to respect, support and always pray for traditional rulers to succeed in their roles as Fathers, leaders and custodians of the people’s custom and traditions.

The Deputy Minority Leader further prayed for the peaceful repose of the late Monarch (HRH. Chief Stephen Guda Tegeri), and commiserated with the immediate family, Bassa Traditional Council, Ikende Community and Friends to accept the fact that all souls must taste death. He wished the Late Revered Monarch, a peaceful rest.
