In a heart-pounding race against time, the FCT Police Command pulled off a daring rescue in Abuja’s Life Camp area, saving a 27-year-old man trapped beneath the rubble of a collapsed three-storey building. Aliyu Salisu, a Niger Republic national, endured nearly 10 hours under debris before being heroically extracted in the early hours of Sunday, August 3, 2025.
The drama unfolded when a distress call hit the FCT Police Command at 6:15 PM on August 2, 2025, reporting the catastrophic collapse. The Life Camp Divisional Police Officer sprang into action, sealing off the site and launching a high-stakes rescue mission alongside heavyweights like the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), FCTA Development Control, Zeberced Construction, and Julius Berger. This powerhouse team worked tirelessly through the night, their determination unwavering.
At 4:00 AM, their efforts paid off. Aliyu was pulled from the wreckage and rushed to Cedar Crest Hospital in Gudu, where he’s now responding to treatment. FCT Police Commissioner Ajao Adewale, who personally oversaw the operation, praised the seamless collaboration and professionalism of all involved, from NEMA to community volunteers.
