Kogi State, Nigeria — In a troubling incident, three pastors were abducted by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers in Ejule, Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State, shortly after they participated in a crusade. The attack occurred around 11 p.m. on Monday, January 20, 2025, as the pastors were returning from the event.
The victims were ambushed along the Ejule-Ofakaga-Anyigba Road. Among those abducted was Evangelist Gabriel Onaji, who served as a guest minister at the three-day “Ejule Gospel Crusade,” hosted by Evangelist Sunday Oguche, president of God’s Care Missions, Okpo.
According to sources, the kidnappers appeared to have targeted Evangelist Oguche specifically. “Evangelist Sunday Oguche would have been kidnapped if he hadn’t chosen to spend the night in Anyigba instead of Ejule,” a witness revealed.
The pastors’ vehicle was later discovered abandoned in Ofakaga village along the same road. The kidnappers have reportedly demanded a ransom of N20 million for their release, as confirmed by Ayefu John, a local resident who attended the crusade and knows one of the abducted pastors.
When contacted for comment, Williams Aya, spokesperson for the Kogi State Police Command, stated that he was unaware of the incident but would seek further information from the relevant division.
This incident underscores the ongoing security challenges in the region, as kidnappings for ransom have become increasingly common in Nigeria.
