Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, has issued a stern warning to property owners defaulting on ground rent payments, vowing to proceed with revocations regardless of status or influence.
He made this declaration during a ceremony in Abuja, where he donated 50 Hilux vehicles to bolster security operations.
Wike criticized unauthorized land claims by construction companies, emphasizing that temporary allocations do not equate to ownership.
“We will not tolerate any misuse of government land. Show valid documents, or face revocation,” he said.
The minister also announced the ongoing construction of 12 new police divisions across the FCT, with completion expected by April 2025. This initiative aims to enhance law enforcement presence in both urban and rural areas.
Addressing controversies surrounding land revocations, including a plot linked to Niger Delta activist Chief Rita Lori Ogbebor, Wike urged affected individuals to provide proper documentation.
He condemned blackmail attempts, reiterating that unlawful occupation would not be tolerated.
“No amount of blackmail will deter us. What is wrong is wrong, and we are determined to enforce compliance,” Wike asserted.
This marks Wike’s latest effort to strengthen governance and security in the FCT, prioritizing accountability and rule of law in land administration.
