The political landscape of Gombe State, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has officially moved against his long-time rival, Senator Danjuma Goje, denying the four-term lawmaker a return ticket to the Senate.
During an APC stakeholders’ meeting held today, the Governor announced a comprehensive list of consensus candidates for the 2027 general elections. Most notably, the Governor named Dr. Jamilu Isyaku Gwamna as the party’s consensus governorship candidate to succeed him.
The decision marks a climax in the protracted political battle between Governor Inuwa and Senator Goje, which began following the 2023 elections. Sources indicate the move comes just days after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu reportedly rebuffed a request from Senate leadership for automatic tickets for sitting National Assembly members.
In a strategic reshuffle, the Governor has positioned himself to take over the Gombe North Senatorial seat, while DCP Mohammed Ahmadu Deba has been tipped to replace Goje for Gombe Central.
