The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Rivers State has unleashed a scathing attack on Governor Siminalayi Fubara, accusing him of abandoning his loyal supporters, known as the Simplified family, in a dramatic turn of events at the government house. This criticism comes after a day of tension, where supporters were left waiting for hours in vain, only to see Fubara fail to return to office as expected following the lifting of his suspension.
Despite President Bola Tinubu’s decision to lift the six-month state of emergency imposed on Fubara, his deputy, and the State Assembly, the governor’s absence on Thursday sparked widespread anger. While lawmakers resumed plenary, Fubara’s no-show left former Local Government chairmen and his supporters in a state of frustration. Many, unable to bear the wait any longer, left in disgust.
Chief Amb. Leader Sampson, Chairman of Rivers ADC, expressed his deep disappointment, condemning the governor’s failure to resume duties as an outright disregard for the people who placed their trust in him. He stated, “Indeed, Governor Fubara spat at your faces, revealing his disdain for your rights, all under the corrupt influence of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.”

Sampson called for action, urging the disillusioned supporters to abandon Fubara and turn to the ADC. He assured them that unlike the current regime, the ADC would not use them as mere pawns in political games. “All Simplified members need to take action and protect their political fortunes. You need to stand up for your rights and demand justice. The ADC is your ally, the only party that truly understands your needs and desires,” he said.
The ADC’s statement further implored supporters to rise against the forces working to silence their voices and to join the party in its quest for progress and a better future for Rivers State and Nigeria as a whole.
