Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Obono Itam, announced on Monday that four children allegedly stolen from Bauchi State have been rescued from a family in Anambra. The CP revealed this information during a press briefing at the police headquarters in Amawbia, Awka South Local Government Area.

During the briefing, Itam also mentioned the arrest of 13 suspects involved in various criminal activities, including murder and kidnapping. Among the suspects were four individuals, including an illegal foster mother, who confessed to their involvement in the child stealing case.

One of the rescued children has been identified, and the police are currently working on reuniting the children with their parents. The rescue operation was part of a joint security effort which dismantled a criminal camp in Nimo, Njikoka Local Government Area. This operation resulted in the recovery of 19 improvised explosive devices and injuries to some fleeing suspects.

The police commissioner highlighted that the successful operation was based on intelligence gathered from ongoing police activities across the state. In a separate incident, police operatives in Enugu-Ukwu arrested an 18-year-old named Miracle Mwakalor and seized an AK-47 rifle and magazine from him during a raid on his gang’s hideout.

Miracle confessed to his involvement in criminal activities and provided information leading to the recovery of the seized weapon. The Anambra State Police Command continues to crackdown on criminal activities in the state to ensure the safety and security of its residents.
