A devastating fire has ravaged the head office of Fresh FM Nigeria and Yinka Ayefele Limited, located in the Challenge area of Ibadan, Oyo State. The fire, which broke out on the evening of August 15, 2025, destroyed key parts of the Music House, a sprawling business complex owned by popular gospel musician, Dr. Yinka Ayefele.
According to the station’s spokesperson, Samson Akindele, the fire started at around 7:30 pm, throwing both staff and nearby residents into a state of panic. “We are sad to inform the general public that the head office of Fresh FM Nigeria, Challenge, Ibadan, was razed by a devastating fire incident,” Akindele said in a statement.
The inferno heavily damaged the studios of Fresh 105.9 FM and Blast 98.3 FM, alongside crucial offices such as the newsroom and the transmitter/server room. Several other pieces of equipment that were in active use during the broadcast were also destroyed.
Efforts by the station’s in-house staff to contain the fire using fire extinguishers proved unsuccessful due to the intensity of the flames. Akindele expressed that the full extent of the damage could not be immediately determined, and the cause of the fire is still unknown.
“We are unable to quantify the full extent of the damage, and the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained,” Akindele added. He, however, praised the swift response of the Oyo Fire Service and the courageous passersby who were the first to assist before the arrival of the fire brigade.
This fire has caused a major disruption to operations at Fresh FM, forcing the station to temporarily halt its live transmission and other activities.
The Music House, which also houses other Ayefele enterprises such as Tiwantiwa Radio and Merry Makers’ Band, is a hub for the business mogul’s diverse media and entertainment ventures.
