The Federal Government has announced plans to publish detailed records of the savings generated from the removal of fuel subsidy, in a move aimed at promoting transparency and strengthening public confidence in the management of public finances.
Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, disclosed this while speaking on the government’s commitment to accountability in the utilisation of funds freed up by the subsidy removal policy.
According to the minister, making the figures public will allow Nigerians to track how the savings are being deployed towards critical sectors of the economy, including infrastructure, education, healthcare and social investment programmes.
He noted that the decision reflects the Tinubu administration’s resolve to ensure prudent management of national resources and demonstrate that the economic reforms are yielding measurable benefits for citizens.
The removal of fuel subsidy, one of the Federal Government’s most significant economic reforms, has sparked widespread debate since its implementation.
