The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested Hon. Emmanuel Odiniya, father of 2023 Big Brother Naija winner Ilebaye Odiniya, following a midnight distress call reporting the physical assault of his daughter.
In a statement released Saturday, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed that the arrest took place in the early hours of the morning at Royal Anchor Estate, Wuye, Abuja.
According to the police, the command responded to a distress call at approximately 12:00 a.m. on May 9, 2026, reporting an ongoing assault on Ilebaye by her father. A patrol team from the Wuye Division, supported by operatives from the Department of Operations, was immediately dispatched to the scene.
Adeh noted that officers initially faced a standoff as the residence gate was locked. Police eventually gained access to the compound at 2:30 a.m., where they found the reality TV star with visible physical injuries.
“Ms. Ilebaye Odiniya was rescued alongside her brothers and rushed to NNPC Hospital, Abuja, where she received medical attention,” Adeh stated.
The command confirmed that Hon. Emmanuel Odiniya is currently in custody, and a thorough investigation is underway to determine the full circumstances of the incident. The police intervention follows a period of intense public concern regarding the safety of the BBNaija star.
