Nigeria’s Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has dismissed reports alleging that President Bola Tinubu approved plans to open the country’s airtime credit market to nine new operators.
In a statement, the commission said it was neither aware of nor involved in the claims being circulated, distancing itself from reports that attributed the purported policy decision to the agency.
The FCCPC urged the public to disregard the claims, stressing that any information suggesting its involvement in the alleged approval is false and does not reflect the commission’s position.
