Chelsea travels to Old Trafford on Saturday aiming to break a 12-year winless streak at Manchester United’s home ground. The Blues last secured a victory there in May 2013, with a decisive goal from Juan Mata. Since then, they have failed to win on any of their subsequent visits, recording seven draws and five defeats.

Led by manager Enzo Maresca, Chelsea arrives with confidence after a strong start to the season, making them one of just three clubs still unbeaten in the Premier League. However, a recent 3-1 Champions League loss to Bayern Munich exposed some vulnerabilities, and injuries to key players could disrupt their momentum.

In contrast, Manchester United is struggling for form under manager Ruben Amorim. They have lost two of their four opening league matches, with one draw and one victory, placing them in the bottom half of the table at 14th. A recent 3-0 defeat to Manchester City in the derby has raised fresh concerns about their defense. Their only league win this season was a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Burnley at home.

United’s recent struggles present a significant opportunity for Chelsea. The most recent league meeting between the two clubs at Old Trafford ended in a 1-1 draw last November. For Chelsea, winning this game is more than just about extending their unbeaten run; it is a chance to end a long-standing drought and solidify their title ambitions.
