Enyiekere Takes Helm as NASC Chairman, Promises Focus on Staff Welfare and Productivity

••First Southern Nigerian to lead the Commission pledges commitment after swearing-in by President Tinubu.

Chief Dr Saviour Enyiekere has officially assumed the role of the sixth Executive Chairman of the National Assembly Service Commission (NASC), making history as the first person from Southern Nigeria to head the body since its inception on June 19, 2001. Dr Enyiekere, along with eleven newly appointed Honourable Commissioners, reported for duty at the NASC office in Utako, Abuja, shortly after their swearing-in ceremony presided over by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa.

DD, Information/ Spokesperson of the Commission, the Commissioners who commenced their duties alongside the new Chairman represent various geopolitical zones: Mr. Hanmation Mark Tersoo and Mr. Salisu Umar Agboola-Balogun (North-Central); Alhaji Lawan Maina Mahmud and Aminu Ibrahim Malle (North-East); Senator Suleiman Othman Hunkuyi and Hon Yusuf A. Tabuka (North-West), Chief Festus Ifesinachi Odii (South-East), Mary Samuel Ekpenyong and Mr Patrick Giwa (South-South), and Mrs Taiwo Olukemi Oluga and Ipesa-Balogun, Afeez (South-West).

During the handover ceremony held at the Commission’s Conference Room, Dr Enyiekere addressed officials of the National Assembly Service, outlining his leadership priorities. He emphasized a strong commitment to the welfare of the Service’s workforce, the fostering of a harmonious working environment, and the enhancement of overall productivity.

Dr Enyiekere expressed his gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senate President Senator Godswill Akpabio, and the leadership of the National Assembly for the trust and opportunity to serve. He pledged to guide the Commission in fulfilling the legislative mandate of the government effectively.

The Clerk to the National Assembly, Barrister Kamoru Ogunlana, extended a message of goodwill to the new Commission, assuring them of the full cooperation of the National Assembly Management in achieving their objectives. He also requested that the Commission involve the National Assembly Management in key decision-making processes.
The Secretary to the Commission, Mr Lucky U. Ikharo, presented the handover documents to the incoming Chairman and pledged the complete dedication of the NASC Management to the successful execution of the Commission’s responsibilities.
