KADUNA – Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has vowed that those responsible for the kidnapping of his close friend and former Chief of Staff, Bashir Saidu, will face consequences in 2027. Saidu, who has since been released after 50 days in captivity, was targeted due to his influence in Kaduna’s political landscape, El-Rufai claimed.
In a post on X, El-Rufai described Saidu as a “grassroots politician, sound technocrat, and true public servant” who “largely dominates the progressive politics of Kaduna North and Central Senatorial Districts.” He asserted that this dominance was the motive behind the abduction.
El-Rufai promised to expose the involvement of certain police officers in the kidnapping and criticized the conduct of some judges for allegedly obstructing bail for Saidu. He stated that he will reveal these details “when all the facts are assembled,” and hinted at sharing “interesting insights” with the public.
