The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) today formally handed over a luxury housing estate comprising 750 units, previously confiscated from former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Godwin Emefiele, to the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.
EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, presented the sprawling estate to the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, during a brief ceremony in Abuja. The handover signals the government’s intention to make these high-end duplexes available for purchase by interested Nigerian buyers, thereby recouping assets acquired through alleged illicit means.
Minister Dangiwa announced that the sale of the housing units will be conducted through a transparent and competitive process. This procedure will be widely publicized and meticulously overseen via the government’s “Renewed Hope Portal,” ensuring fairness and accountability in the allocation of the properties.
The seized estate, comprising 750 luxury duplexes, represents one of the largest single asset recoveries by the EFCC. Its handover marks a crucial step in the government’s ongoing anti-corruption efforts and its commitment to utilizing recovered assets for the benefit of the Nigerian populace.
