Former Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye, has launched a scathing attack on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), declaring it “dead and buried” and now under the firm grip of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Melaye, now a leading figure in the African Democratic Congress (ADC), made the remarks in a televised interview on Monday night.
“Except for our Lord Jesus Christ, no dead can rise again. Whatever you are seeing is a façade. The dead is dead; what remains is simply an obituary announcement,” he said.
Accusing the PDP of having been compromised, Melaye alleged that operatives of the APC within the Presidential Villa had taken over the party’s affairs.
“The PDP was sold – I’m not even sure if a receipt was issued for the transaction. What exists today is an APC-controlled PDP, managed from the Villa by APC agents,” he claimed.
Reacting to recent comments by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, who urged stakeholders to first rebuild the party, Melaye argued that such a statement from a sitting governor was proof that “there is no party.”
Reaffirming his loyalty to the ADC, Melaye expressed confidence that his party would unseat President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
“I remain a proud member of the ADC. By the grace of God, it is the ADC that will remove Tinubu from the Villa come 29 May 2027,” he declared.
