A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the interim forfeiture of nine properties allegedly linked to Timipre Sylva, in a move that underscores ongoing anti-corruption efforts in the country.

The ruling, delivered on April 24 by Justice Obiora Egwuatu, followed an ex parte application filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

In granting the request, the court directed that the properties be temporarily forfeited to the federal government pending the outcome of further proceedings.

The EFCC alleges that the assets are connected to illicit activities, although the court order represents an interim measure and does not amount to a final determination of guilt.

The case is part of a broader push by Nigerian authorities to recover assets suspected to have been acquired through unlawful means, as scrutiny intensifies on former public officials.
