The Sokoto State Government has described the Eid-el-Kabir frontline visit by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Waidi Shuaibu, as a significant morale booster for troops engaged in counter-banditry operations in the North-West.

Speaking in Sokoto on Thursday, the Special Adviser on Security Matters to the Governor, Col. Ahmed Usman (retd.), stated that the gesture by the Army leadership would inspire officers and soldiers of *Operation Fansan Yamma* to remain resolute in the ongoing fight against criminal elements threatening the region.

The COAS, who was represented by the Commander, Infantry Corps of the Nigerian Army, Maj. Gen. Godwin Mutkut, visited troops stationed at the Forward Operating Base in Tureta Local Government Area. During the visit, he celebrated the festive occasion by sharing lunch and interacting with the personnel.

Col. Usman noted that the visit reflects the Nigerian Army’s commitment to the welfare and motivation of personnel serving in difficult operational environments.

“This visit to troops at the frontline during Eid-el-Kabir is highly commendable and deeply encouraging to the men risking their lives daily to protect our people,” Usman said. “Celebrating with them at their duty posts sends a strong message that the military high command values their sacrifices, commitment, and patriotism. It will certainly boost their operational confidence.”

The security adviser reaffirmed the commitment of Governor Ahmed Aliyu’s administration to supporting security agencies. He emphasized that the state remains determined to collaborate with the military and other institutions to restore lasting peace to communities affected by insecurity.

“The Sokoto State Government will continue to provide the necessary support and cooperation to ensure the success of ongoing operations against banditry and related crimes,” he added.

Usman further urged residents to support the military by providing credible and timely information, noting that security is a collective responsibility. He concluded by praying for the success of the troops and wishing them a peaceful celebration across various operational theatres.
