Afrobeats star Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has hinted that he is ready to take on the responsibilities of marriage and fatherhood — but not without high standards.

The Grammy-winning singer sparked online conversation after a video surfaced showing him flaunting a luxury ring on his left ring finger. The statement piece, which he claimed is worth $2 million, came with a bold message to potential suitors.

“Show me one female that would have put this ring on my finger,” Burna said in the viral clip. “This is what my marriage is worth. If you want to marry me, you’re bringing the ring because I already gave myself a ring. It is $2m, so you have to beat it before I love you and we can have children.”

The remark came just weeks after his 33rd birthday on 2 July, where the singer joked about aging and starting a family. “Na so Jowizaza follow me talk the last time, I come dey think my life. I don dey old oh, I for begin born pikin,” he said at the celebration.

This shift in tone from Burna Boy aligns with sentiments he has previously expressed. During a 2024 Instagram Live session, he revealed he had delayed having children because of the standard set by his parents.

“I don’t want to have kids yet,” he said at the time. “Have you seen my mum and dad, the way they love me? I can’t give that to anyone right now with the life I’m living.”

Back in 2020, he had tweeted a similar message: “Just want to be as good a parent to my children as my parents were and still are to me and my sisters. Until I’m confident that I can be stable and settle with the mother of my kids, I can’t have any kids.”

Known for his fierce independence and emotional depth, Burna Boy’s recent comments have reignited discussions about masculinity, wealth, and intentional parenting in Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
