The move follows a Supreme Court judgment delivered today which invalidated the PDP National Convention held in Ibadan on 15–16 November 2025 that produced the Kabiru Tanimu Turaki-led National Working Committee. The Court also unanimously upheld the suspensions of Senator Samuel Anyanwu, Hon. Umar Bature and Barr. Kamaldeen Ajibade from the party.

As a consequence, the Court’s decision renders null and void all actions taken by the suspended officers, including the appointment of Abdulrahman Mohammed as Acting National Chairman, the composition of the National Caretaker Working Committee, and the conduct and outcome of the March 29, 2026 convention in Abuja.

With both the Turaki- and Abdulrahman Mohammed-led working committees invalidated, the BoT — as the party’s second highest organ — has taken up the statutory responsibility to provide interim national leadership pursuant to Section 32(5) of the PDP Constitution.

As an immediate remedial step, the BoT will summon an emergency meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) under Section 31 of the party Constitution to appoint an Interim National Working Committee to manage party affairs at the national secretariat. The BoT stressed that the Interim NWC will be charged with ensuring the PDP meets the timelines set out in the Electoral Act, 2026 and fields candidates for the 2027 general elections.

All national secretariat staff are directed to resume work under the leadership of the BoT pending the appointment of the Interim NWC.

The BoT commended the courage and resilience of the party’s governors — including Governors Bala Mohammed and Seyi Makinde — the National Assembly caucus, National Ex-officios, the Forum of PDP State Chairmen, state chapters, and the Youth and Women Wings for their steadfastness during this difficult period.

The Board called on all party leaders and members to set aside personal and factional interests, embrace reconciliation, and unite for the overall good of the PDP and Nigerian democracy.

Signed:
Senator Adolphus Wabara, Ph.D
Chairman, Board of Trustees, PDP
