Borussia Dortmund have finalized the signing of Nigerian-English midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka from Chelsea in a deal reportedly worth around €25 million (approximately N45 billion), including add-ons and a significant sell-on clause. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the agreement, announcing, “Carney Chukwuemeka to Borussia Dortmund, here we go! Deal done and plan confirmed.”

The 21-year-old is set to undergo his medical on Monday alongside Argentine defender Aaron Anselmino, who is joining Dortmund on loan. Once all formalities are complete, Chukwuemeka will be officially unveiled as a permanent member of the Bundesliga side.

Chukwuemeka impressed during his loan spell at Dortmund last season, showcasing notable technical skills and dynamism that caught the attention of the club’s hierarchy. His performances accelerated Dortmund’s efforts to secure his services on a long-term basis.

Having joined Chelsea from Aston Villa in 2022 for around £20 million, Chukwuemeka’s progress at Stamford Bridge was hampered by injuries and intense competition in midfield, limiting his opportunities to consistently feature in the first team.

His permanent transfer to Dortmund marks a pivotal career move, offering him a platform to play regularly in a league renowned for nurturing young talents and accelerating player development.

According to Wale Adejumo, the deal highlights Dortmund’s commitment to building a youthful, dynamic squad capable of competing at the highest European level while giving promising players like Chukwuemeka a chance to flourish.
