Romuald Wadagni, the country’s finance minister, has won Benin’s presidential election in a decisive landslide, securing more than 94 percent of the vote according to provisional results.

The announcement was made late on Monday by Sacca Lafia, who heads the country’s Independent National Electoral Commission, during a live broadcast on national television.

The overwhelming margin underscores Wadagni’s dominant position in the race, marking one of the most one-sided electoral victories in the country’s recent political history.

Further details on voter turnout and opposition performance have yet to be released by electoral authorities.
