Bello El-Rufai, son of Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, has emphatically stated that he has no intention of leaving the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), unless explicitly instructed by his father.

Speaking at a recent political gathering in Kaduna, Bello El-Rufai, a rising political figure within the APC, dismissed speculation about a potential defection. “I am committed to the APC. The party has been the platform through which we can effect meaningful change. The only circumstance that would make me reconsider is if my father, whom I deeply respect, tells me otherwise,” he said.

Political analysts say the statement underscores the influence of familial ties in Nigerian politics and reflects a broader trend of political loyalty intertwined with personal networks. It also comes amid growing speculation about internal party dynamics ahead of upcoming elections, which have seen some high-profile figures shift allegiances.

Bello El-Rufai’s remarks are expected to quell rumours of a defection and reaffirm the family’s steadfast presence within the APC, sending a clear message to both supporters and critics.

The APC, which has been consolidating its political base across key states, faces challenges from opposition parties seeking to capitalise on perceived internal tensions. Statements like Bello El-Rufai’s are likely intended to project unity and stability ahead of these electoral contests.
