To the untrained eyes Ashiwaju Bola Tinubu is the King of Lagos. He tries to be and has succeeded thus far. The secret to his supreme powers lies in creating Monters who become Colossus. Uncontrollable as they get stupendously rich and powerful. It is the phenomenon that has become his Achilles heel. His power is secured by his ability to use these monsters to destroy each other. It is a reality show that would have been fascinating to see on the television if not for the waste of money and irreparable harm done on the innocent populace. Who with selective amnesia fail to see the massive corruption and the greed of the godfather. A sorrowful reminder of our selective memory and careless attitude towards things that should be consequential is the recent saga of Mudashiru Obasa. His sin was not the corruption. Under Tinubu corruption has never been a crime. The crime is the insubordination to the emperor ….and his people. By that I am talking about the powers that control Tinubu. The unseen hands that dictate the affairs of the state. Those who know that without them, Tinubu is the King without the crown.

Obasa just out played himself. Not with Tinubu. But with the King makers in the State. Akinwunmi Ambode, made that grievous mistake by thinking all powers lies with the Ashiwaju. He found out the hard way. The King makers brought Babajide Sanwo-Olu from nowhere. Imposed him on the Asiwaju who had no choice but to rubber stamp what was presented before him. This time around Tinubu wants his own man. His own begotten son. In whom he is pleased. Not Seyi Tinubu, his biological son. But Seyi has become very ambitious. He wants to become the next Governor of Lagos State. Despite the fact that he is not his father’s choice. His father’s choice? That man is Senator Tokunbo Abiru. A made man in Tinubu’s circle. A man that will do the bidding of the Jagaban. He has done it with his finances in the past and he is trusted by the King makers.

Tinubu knows he is not a tyrant. He loves being a King. He can handle the ambition of his son, Seyi. Known for his youthful exuberance. Obasa is a different animal. Apart from being a made man in Tinubu circle. He is stupendously rich and will give Abiru a run for his money. Thus, he has to be killed. History is full of accidents and contingencies. The Jagaban knows and understands that. He gave in to the King makers in the case of Sanwo-Olu. Now he wants power back in the case of Abiru. He cannot afford an Obasa. Getting cut is an occupational hazard in the Tinubu world. There is no honor amongst these rogues. Pardon my cliche: it is a dog-eat-dog world. A game by the super-rich and enormously powerful. An elite with the inability to make lives better for the populace. Rather we see strategy and overwhelming tactics to continue the domination of our miserable lives.
