A Nollywood actress, Bukola Arugba, has publicly challenged the Kwara State First Lady, Olufolake Abdulrazaq, for referring to a deadly assault on a church in Eruku as an “attempted attack,” revealing that three of her own relatives are among those abducted.
The confrontation occurred via a widely circulated Instagram video, where an emotional Arugba directly responded to the First Lady’s description of the November 18 incident.
“The information you got from the Kwara State Police is false, ma. This involves my people directly… it was a successful attack, not an attempted attack,” Arugba stated firmly.
The attack, which targeted a church service in the Eruku community, reportedly saw gunmen storm the venue. Initial accounts indicate that three worshippers were killed, with several others, including the church pastor, forcibly taken away.
Arugba, who is an indigene of Eruku, argued that the term “attempted” minimised the severity of a tragedy that had resulted in confirmed deaths and kidnappings.
She detailed her personal connection to the crisis, listing family members currently held by the assailants.
“Three, four of my cousins are in the bandits’ den right now. Evangelist Titi Balogun, my mum’s younger sister, and Ebenezer Aina, my cousin’s son, are all there,” the actress explained.
She further emphasised the human cost, contradicting any suggestion that the attack was not fully executed.
“Three people are dead,” Arugba said, appealing for a more accurate official narrative and urgent action to secure the release of the captives.
