In a heartwarming display of faith and philanthropy, esteemed legal luminary Chief Dr. Ogwu James Onoja, SAN, has gifted a magnificent grotto to St. Theresa Catholic Church in Ogugu, Olamaboro Local Government Area. The newly commissioned sanctuary, dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, promises to be a beacon of prayer and reflection for the community.
The commissioning ceremony on Sunday, April 27, 2025, was a vibrant affair, drawing a distinguished gathering of clergy, government officials, and well-wishers. Presiding over the auspicious event, the Catholic Bishop of Idah Diocese, Most Reverend Anthony Adaji, lauded Chief Onoja’s unwavering commitment to both God and humanity. He described the Senior Advocate as an exceptional example of Christian charity and humility, emphasizing the profound significance of giving in his homily, “Life Without Charity is to Live in Vain.”
Chief Onoja’s generosity extended beyond the stunning grotto. Demonstrating a deep appreciation for the vital role of women in the church, he gifted the Catholic Women Organization (CWO) a substantial sum of One Million Naira. Furthermore, recognizing the importance of a comfortable worship environment, he pledged 29 Binatone Heavy Duty Fans, valued at a total of ₦3,480,000, to the church.
Overwhelmed with joy and gratitude, Bishop Adaji expressed his sincere appreciation for Chief Onoja’s selfless contributions, urging the faithful to emulate his exemplary spirit. Chief Onoja, in his humble address, attributed his philanthropic endeavors to divine grace and called upon other Nigerians to invest in community and faith-based initiatives.
