The presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Engr. Seyi Makinde, has urged Nigerians to accept any money offered by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) during the 2027 general election, but to vote according to their conscience.

Makinde said voters should not reject money offered during the electioneering period, arguing that it belonged to the people. He urged them, however, to remain committed to their preferred candidates.

He made the remarks on Saturday in Bauchi at the flag-off of his presidential campaign, urging voters not to let financial inducements determine their choices.

“When they come with money during the election, do not bother to reject it. If the money is yours, collect it and spend it. But guard your conscience and make the right decision when the time comes. I know that your hearts are with us and with me,” he said.

Makinde also called on Nigerians dissatisfied with the country’s situation—particularly insecurity, hunger and the government’s perceived inability to address pressing national challenges—to support the APM.

“If you are unhappy with the situation in our country today, particularly the growing insecurity, hunger and the inability of the government to address the challenges confronting Nigerians, then there is only one party for us. That party is the party of respect for Nigeria,” he said.

He urged Nigerians to identify with the APM’s political movement, describing its supporters as “Resetters”.

Makinde said the party was committed to respecting communities, strengthening the country’s security architecture and creating a sociopolitical environment in which more Nigerians could participate meaningfully in governance.

He commended the party’s national leader and Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, for hosting the campaign flag-off. He also thanked the APM national chairman for providing him with a platform to contest the presidency and present his vision for serving Nigerians.

Makinde said the party was determined to offer an alternative political direction capable of addressing the country’s challenges.
