Our attention has been drawn to a wave of blog posts, online commentary, and deliberate falsehoods stemming from a recent media briefing and interview granted by I.G. Waru, Esq., counsel to Safwan Garba. This relates to the ongoing suit instituted against Jordan Wike, currently pending before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, in Suit No: FCT/HC/CV/008/2026, and the actual proceedings of the court.
Jordan Nyesom-WikeWithin these unverified reports and commentaries, it has been maliciously claimed that Jordan Wike admitted to receiving $2.1 million for an Abuja property. The propagation of this specific narrative by platforms such as Sahara Reporters and Very Darkman (VDM) is entirely false and deeply irresponsible. Furthermore, it is regrettable that various other media and social channels—including Port Harcourt Specials, The Cable, Ogoni Times, Magic FM Aba, Information Nigeria, Kalabari TV, Sorosoye Gossip, Edo Updates, and numerous others—continue to recycle this fabrication without verification, inflicting ongoing damage to Jordan Wike’s reputation. This sustained dissemination of mistruths bears the hallmarks of an orchestrated media campaign designed to prejudice public opinion, generate artificial outrage, and exert improper pressure on the judiciary.
For the sake of the public record, Jordan Wike’s formal defence before the court explicitly states that he has never met Safwan Garba G.Y. or any purported agents of his at any time. He maintained this position under oath while giving evidence in court on the 28th and 30th of September, 2026. It raises serious professional questions as to why a legal practitioner would conduct media rounds weeks after court sittings to deliberately distort what transpired in the courtroom. Notably, the interview granted by I.G. Waru took place near the Federal High Court in Abuja nearly a month after the actual proceedings concluded at the FCT High Court. This calculated timing reveals the source of the defamatory claims and unfounded conclusions currently circulating among uninformed commentators online.
As legal counsel to Mr. Jordan Wike, we initially maintained a strict silence in observance of the sub judice rule. However, in light of the relentless online harassment, character assassination, and the uncritical acceptance of falsehoods by commentators failing to verify basic facts, it has become necessary to state the actual position clearly.
Safwan Garba G.Y. chose to bring this matter before a court of law, yet his actions suggest a reluctance to let the judicial process run its course. It is standard professional ethics that while a matter is sub judice, legal representatives should allow the court to adjudicate rather than resort to extra-judicial media trials. Utilizing public platforms to manufacture false narratives that contradict actual court proceedings is an attempt to mislead the populace. Crucially, regarding the ongoing commentary surrounding a petition to the EFCC, our legal team formally introduced that document into the proceedings to expose the internal contradictions within Safwan Garba’s claims. Safwan Garba G.Y. deliberately omitted this vital document from his own pleadings, and subsequently abandoned his pursuit at the EFCC once the inconsistencies in his written statements became apparent.
Accordingly, we call upon the general public to reject the deliberate falsehoods pushed by Safwan Garba G.Y. and the misleading characterization presented by his lawyer, I.G. Waru, Esq., whose public commentary regarding active proceedings is both professionally unethical and improper.
TAKE NOTICE: that any media organization, blogger, or individual who persists in broadcasting or publishing this verified falsehood against Jordan Nyesom-Wike exposes themselves to immediate civil and criminal liability for malicious falsehood, cyberbullying, slander, and libel. All platforms and individuals responsible for previous publications, insinuations, and unwarranted attacks concerning this matter are hereby advised to retract and remove such content immediately.
The public is advised to take note and be guided accordingly.
